CONSULTING
Cariden has amassed a large body of experience and software tools for investigating, modeling, and optimizing network designs and traffic engineering deployments. Here are some of the consulting services we offer:
Network Design.
Cariden provides tools and assistance in network design and capacity planning to minimize capital expenditure. We will help you estimate your traffic patterns, and optimize the locations and sizes of links and nodes. We will ensure that your network has s
ufficient restoration capacity to meet failure response requirements.
Efficiency and Resilience Audits.
We can evaluate the efficiency and performance of your network and provide a comparison to the best possible.
We can optimize your existing architecture or evaluate new technology such as MPLS, dynamic or explicit routing, and various restoration schemes including Fast Reroute.
Demand Estimation and Projections.
Knowledge of current source-to-destination bandwidth demand is crucial for a variety of operational and planning tasks, from tactical response to failure to strategic capacity planning. Cariden provides tools and procedures for sophisticated estimation of
demand structures without large-scale installation of monitoring equipment.
QoS Planning.
We can evaluate the performance and interactions between multiple classes of service operating together on a network. Both proprietary usage prediction methods and effective bandwidth estimation may be used to plan for complex multiservice installations.
TRAINING
In addition to providing training in the use of Cariden products, Cariden offers general courses in traffic engineering and QoS planning in conjunction with its training partners.
CUSTOM SOFTWARE
No two networks are alike. Using the existing MATE framework, Cariden's scientific and engineering consulting staff are available to create cost effective customized solutions for your network.
SAMPLE PROJECTS
Resilient Throughput Analysis.
A client running a US-wide IP network, with sophisticated data on shared risk link groups (SRLGs) but limited knowledge of demand structures of the network, requested an assessment of the impact of using MPLS versus metric optimization for maximizing resi
lient throughput. Using traffic demand modeling and MATE solvers, we showed how the client could more than double resilient throughput with either technology.
Custom VoIP Implementation.
A client interested in carrying voice on their IP-MPLS-enabled network engaged Cariden to devise custom software for an innovative protection scheme to reduce traffic disruption to a fraction of a second for multiple simultaneous failures.
